The Lead Faculty - Certification Coordinator within the Surgical Technology Program works with students upon successful completion of the specific program milestones. This role is responsible for developing individual remediation and study plans that focus on progression and overall certification examination readiness. The Lead Faculty - Certification & Licensure Coordinator makes recommendations to the Program Chair for the determination of student readiness for certification and licensure examinations. Also, this role is credentialed and approved as faculty for the appointed program of study and is expected to complete teaching assignments within the scope of the University faculty workload policy. The Lead Faculty - Certification & Licensure Coordinator may supervise coaches that are assigned to assisting student readiness.

REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, Master's degree preferred
  • Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency
  • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCAA)
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology (or a combination of both) within the past 5 years.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills necessary to maintain positive, professional interactions with students, alumni, faculty, and employer partners.


Preferred:



  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas effectively to individuals and groups.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of programmatic accreditation and regulatory standards established by CAAHEP for Surgical Technology programs.


COMPENSATION is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $62,229 to $84,193.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Occasional travel. Initial travel focus in Milwaukee area.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Ability to move about readily and rapidly, if necessary, around campus, classrooms, clinical settings, etc.,
    to access classrooms, desks, students, office machinery, clinics, patients, etc.
  • Constantly communicates using the spoken word with students, staff and colleagues.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
  • Operate equipment specific to programmatic track, personal computer, audio-visual equipment, clinical
    equipment, etc.
  • Travel to off-site meetings or conferences or to observe students during clinical education at off-site
    clinical settings.
  • In addition to the above requirements, for programs that include a clinical component, all faculty must be
    able to:

    • Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects.
    • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
    • Lift up to 25 pounds.
