Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed School Rover in Austin, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a higher-education location, you will conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to calls for service with calm professionalism. You will support students, faculty, staff, and visitors through clear communication and customer service, document activity, and collaborate with campus partners. This post requires a Texas Level III Armed Certification and a disciplined, integrity-driven approach aligned with Allied Universal values.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $24.00 / Hour + 4.22 per hour for health and welfare

Paid vacation + Sick time

Must be able to pass a federal background check, physical and PT test

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out post orders, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an education location.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, and perimeter routes to help to deter security-related incidents, checking doors, gates, and restricted areas for irregularities.
  • Respond to alarms, calls for service, and critical incidents in a calm, problem-solving manner, using de-escalation techniques and coordinating with campus partners and/or local law enforcement as directed.
  • Control access to designated areas by monitoring entry points, verifying identification and/or authorization, managing visitor procedures, and directing individuals to appropriate offices or resources.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and evidence documentation as required, and communicate observations and/or hazards to site leadership following Allied Universal and client procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 3+ years' combined law enforcement, military, and/or security experience or a college degree.
  • Have Level III Armed Certification for Texas only.
  • Handcuffing certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
