Primary Function The Instrument Mechanic installs, repairs, maintains, and adjusts indicating, recording, telemetering, and controlling instruments used to measure and control variables, such as pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition, using hand tools and precision instruments. Essential Duties
- Installs, repairs, maintains, and adjusts indicating, recording, telemetering, and controlling instruments used to measure and control variables, such as pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition, using hand tools and precision instruments.
- Disassembles malfunctioning instruments, examines and tests mechanism and circuitry for defects;
- Troubleshoots equipment in or out of control system and replaces or repairs defective parts, reassembles instrument and tests assembly for conformance with specifications, using instruments, such as potentiometer, resistance bridge, manometer, and pressure gauge
- Inspects instruments periodically, and makes minor calibration adjustments to insure functioning within specified standards
- May adjust and repair final control mechanisms, such as automatically controlled valves or positioners
- May calibrate instruments according to established standards
- Ability to work as a team player while working cohesively with all levels of clients, customers, and others to ensure contract success
- Able to work independently, analyze situations, and make decisions with minimal supervision

- Comprehensive knowledge of word processing software applications
- Advanced computer skills specifically using data products and location specific programs
- Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.

- Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.

- Knowledge of relevant standards
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years of commercial/industrial experience
- Accredited certificates of training from Johnson Controls or SIEMENS or approved trainers of those manufacturers' controls training school(s). Minimum training requirements include the following:
- Fundamentals course; Johnson Controls-Fundamental Control Strategies for HVAC Systems Course 215 (or current curriculum equivalency course)
- For access to Talon systems; Cochrane Supply-Niagara Operations course (or current curriculum equivalency course)
- For access to Metasys Systems; Johnson Controls-Metasys System Extended Architecture (MSEA) for Building Operators Course 388 (or current curriculum equivalency course)
- Previous military / government Logistics experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to maintain a government security clearance.
- Ability to pass background and drug screening.
Working Environment This is an on-site, fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities.This position is normally 5 days a week M-F. However, weekends and after hour support may be required.
