Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director / Training Coordinator, responsible for leadership and management of the law enforcement academy at an assigned campus. Responsible to perform complex and highly responsible duties to attain assigned organizational goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in managing operational plans that demonstrate a clear understanding of the Dallas College Law Enforcement Academy purpose and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement academy's policies and procedures. Ability to plan and implement projects related to the academy's strategic plan that accomplish its vision, mission, and goals. Knowledge and ability to comply with applicable state, local and Advisory Board regulations. Ability to stay up to date with trends and best practices related to area(s) of responsibility. Flexible and able to adapt to changing conditions. Effectively communicates changes and build commitment to overcome resistance to change. Be able to work under designated leadership and with delegated leadership responsibilities. Must possess strong, personal leadership qualities and team building skills. Ability to cooperate with others, operate independently, and employ solid decision-making skills. Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace. Able to maintain confidentiality as required. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other academy employees and cadets, along with constituents internal and external to the organization. Must be able to represent the organization if/when called upon to do so by the Director / Training Coordinator. Must be able to multitask, have excellent time management skills and the ability to analytically reflect, research, review and analyze complex data. Knowledge and experience in providing oversight to various organizational programs and directing the work of personnel to meet annual, short and long-range goals. Capable of planning, implementing, executing and evaluating complex projects and ensuring completion on time and within budget. Demonstrates interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills to engage effectively with individuals from diverse multicultural backgrounds. Must have excellent project management skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with constituents to implement operational strategies or new processes to improve the academy experience and provide excellent educational service.
Physical Requirements
Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. May include physical exertion relative to a Police Academy setting exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of work experience in related field, including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Must possess a Basic Instructor Certification issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Must possess a Basic Instructor Certification issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Official transcripts and certifications are required. A current and valid Texas driver's license is required. May require early morning, evening, and weekend work. Bilingual or Multilingual Preferred

Key Responsibilities
The Campus Coordinator is responsible to the Director / Training Coordinator for the oversight and coordination of the Dallas College Law Enforcement's program at various sites. Works very closely with instructors and staff to ensure cadets obtain a quality education. Maintains working relationships with segments of the Criminal Justice System to keep abreast of current requirements, trends, policies and procedures. Applies policies, procedures, laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to the Police Academy's campus management and functions. Integrates knowledge of industry trends and professional training to continuously improve the Academy's program at an assigned campus. Ensures the delivery of curriculum per the learning objectives noted by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Applies and maintains standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures. Assists the Director / Training Coordinator to ensure the Police Academy program meets accreditation standards and complies with State and Advisory Board policies and procedures. Responsible for vetting applicants applying to their respective location and providing quality instruction to a diverse student population at those locations. Responsible to instruct cadets. Responsible to manage cadet testing and ensure its integrity. Responsible to manage instructional duties and responsibilities of others in accordance with the academy's philosophy, mission, policies and procedures. Personally, supports cadets through the academic program assisting as needed and ensuring retention and graduation. Assigns, monitors and evaluates program instructors. Adheres to required standards, maintains the integrity of records, and filing and reporting deadlines. Ensures compliance with all mandates established by Texas State law and enforced through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Utilizes solid interpersonal, listening, oral and written communications when communicating with diverse stakeholders and constituents internal/external to the Dallas College community network. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director / Training Coordinator.
