Medical Assistant II - Outpatient Heart Failure

ChristianaCare's Medical Group department is looking to hire a Full Time Senior Medical Assistant, to support our Heart & Vascular Service Line!

The Senior Medical Assistant is responsible for delivering and maintaining quality patient care.They will assist providers in the examination and treatment of patients with virtual and on-site appointments and will operate as a team leader and mentor of office staff in the practice to facilitate functions and duties.

We are looking for a Senior Medical Assistant who will cross cover our Cardiac Surgery, Structural Heart, Genetics and General Cardiology (C4) practices at our Newark and Wilmington locations.

Work Schedule:

• Monday through Friday: 8am to 4:30pm

• No weekends or holidays.

• Flexibility to cover at Wilmington two days per week on a rotating schedule, required.

Key Responsibilities

• Rooms patients for virtual and on-site within the practice to include taking and recording patient Vitals.

• Performs point of care testing, injections, medication administration and EKGs as per practice needs.

• Assist clinician with examinations/procedures.

• Completes necessary patient-specific paperwork as per practice needs.

• Ensures EMR is up to date with all pertinent test results in preparation for next visit.

• Assures adequate coverage within the practice due to staff shortage.

• Participate in new hire orientation and other educational initiatives for staff as per directed by supervisor.

• Handles patient call backs relaying information per the direction of provider.

• Performs other related duties as required.

Education Requirements:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent

• A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or
  Hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

• 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant is required; 3 years' experience is preferred
