Job Description (General Summary)

Intralox, L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, is seeking a Controls Engineering Leader to lead and develop our LifeCycle Services Controls organization supporting customers across North America.

Intralox Equipment specializes in turnkey solutions for the logistics and material handling industries. We work closely with customers to understand their most critical operational challenges and deliver value through design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, training, and long-term support of conveyance and sortation solutions.

This role is a senior leadership position responsible for building, developing, and enabling a high-performing team of Controls Engineers and Automation Specialists. The successful candidate will focus on people leadership, problem-solving leadership, and cross-functional facilitation, ensuring teams are equipped to solve complex customer problems while growing the next generation of leaders within the organization.

Rather than serving as the primary technical expert, this leader creates the environment, clarity, and structure for teams to do their best work---especially in high-stakes customer situations.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership, Vision & Culture
*Set and align the vision, priorities, and operating principles for the LifeCycle Services Controls team in partnership with Technical Services and Commercial leadership.
*Build a strong leadership bench by developing engineers into technical leaders, facilitators, and future people managers.
*Foster a culture of trust, accountability, continuous improvement, and learning aligned with the Laitram Business Philosophy.
*Serve as a senior escalation leader during complex customer challenges, facilitating teams through ambiguity rather than personally solving the technical details.
Team Development & People Leadership
*Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent with a strong focus on long-term growth and leadership potential.
*Lead thorough regular one-on-ones, team forums, and structured development conversations focused on capability building and career progression.
*Coach leaders and individual contributors on problem framing, prioritization, communication, and customer engagement.
*Provide clear, candid feedback through performance reviews with an emphasis on growth, impact, and leadership behaviors.
*Identify and develop future leaders by creating safe opportunities to lead, experiment, and learn.
Customer & Problem-Solving Leadership
*Act as a senior customer-facing leader during high-impact or high-risk situations, ensuring the right teams are engaged and aligned.
*Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving efforts that bring together controls, engineering, product, and commercial partners.
*Model how to engage customers as trusted partners, especially when navigating complex operational or technical challenges.
*Ensure customer learnings are captured and translated into organizational improvements.
Operational & Organizational Effectiveness
*Own capacity planning, prioritization, and resource alignment to balance customer commitments with sustainable team workloads.
*Ensure teams operate with clear goals, roles, and decision-making frameworks.
*Partner with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Global Services to align priorities and remove organizational friction.
*Champion continuous improvement by simplifying processes, reducing noise, and focusing teams on the vital few.
Strategy & Continuous Improvement
*Participate in business and strategic planning, ensuring controls services capabilities evolve with company needs.
*Translate strategy into clear, actionable direction for teams.
*Lead improvement initiatives that strengthen responsiveness, quality, and team effectiveness---not just technical outcomes.
*Stay informed on industry and technology trends at a leadership level, ensuring the organization remains competitive without requiring hands-on expertise.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
*Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree a plus.
*5-10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including leading experienced professionals or managers.
*Demonstrated success building, developing, and retaining high-performing technical or professional teams.
*Strong track record leading teams through complex, ambiguous customer or operational challenges.
*Proven ability to align people, priorities, and resources to deliver results.
*Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage engineers, customers, and senior leaders.
*Comfortable operating as a coach, facilitator, and decision-maker rather than solely a hands-on technical expert.
*Willingness to travel (~30% domestic and occasional international.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
*Experience leading teams in engineering, automation, manufacturing services, or technical services environments.
*Background working closely with customers in complex, project-based or operational settings.
*Exposure to controls, automation, or industrial systems sufficient to lead teams credibly (hands-on expertise not required.)
*Experience operating within matrixed or global organizations.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Intralox considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training and key skills. The position is eligible for one of the following: commissions, discretionary incentives, or production incentives according to the terms of those plans
Salary Range $120,000 to $234,400.
