Overview
The College of Arts and Sciences is hiring a full-time Advancement Specialist to foster and support the effort to recruit prospective students to the College of Arts & Sciences (ArtSci). This will include developing and refining the college-wide recruitment plan, collaborating with each department and center to support individualized opportunities and needs, and coordinating personnel and materials for various recruiting events. As a member of the Strategic Enrollment Management team within the College of Arts & Sciences, the Recruitment Specialist will make strategic and data-informed decisions and provide proactive leadership in the recruitment of targeted student populations.

The Recruitment Specialist will work closely with university admissions, ArtSci administrators, academic advisors, department heads, the ArtSci marketing & communications team, and others as appropriate. They will also provide training and guidance to ArtSci faculty, staff, and student ambassadors on effective recruiting techniques as appropriate. Such training may address providing admissions information to prospective students, providing information about degrees and programs, and representing ArtSci. The Recruitment Specialist position will occasionally be required to travel to coordinate College representation at recruiting events such as high school career days, community college transfer days, regional campus visits, Logan campus class visits, college fairs, conventions, expos, open houses, etc.

The Recruitment Specialist will build relationships with high school counselors and colleagues at other institutions for undergraduate transfer and graduate student recruitment. Proficiency in presentation, strong communication and teamwork skills, data analysis, and program coordination and evaluation are required to succeed in this role. As a member of the ArtSci Strategic Enrollment Management team, the successful applicant will lead and implement college-wide, data-informed recruitment strategies for the College of Arts & Sciences by collaborating with campus partners, training faculty and student ambassadors, coordinating recruitment events, and building strong relationships with prospective students, counselors, and transfer institutions to support targeted enrollment goals.

Additional responsibilities will include other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Design and coordinate the recruiting strategies for ArtSci to increase student enrollment.
  • Design data-driven enrollment, decision-making, and accountability measures to track the effectiveness of recruiting and marketing strategies.
  • Coordinate the selection, training, and scheduling of ArtSci College Ambassadors.
  • Present information about effective student recruitment strategies and admissions processes to faculty, staff, and student ambassadors, providing guidance and training to support consistent, informed, and engaging outreach to prospective students.
  • Plan and implement recruiting events, including facilitation of pre-event and post-event communications.
  • Travel to recruiting events such as high school career days, community college transfer days, regional campus visits, Logan campus class visits, college fairs, conventions, expos, open houses, etc.
  • Familiarity with ArtSci departments and centers in addition to enthusiasm about the benefits of an ArtSci education.
  • Serve as a liaison between ArtSci and USU Admissions, coordinating college-level recruiting efforts that are aligned with and support university recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinate with the ArtSci marketing & communications team and ArtSci departments and centers to develop and improve recruitment materials, including but not limited to major and program sheets, USU inserts, banners, flyers, mailers, website content, and digital images.
  • Build relationships with alumni, school counselors, and school administrators.
  • Design and implement strategies for recruiting current USU exploratory students to ArtSci majors.
  • Communicate with prospective students and parents, responding to inquiries that are submitted via Degree Finder.
  • Coordinate the digital recruitment communication process by working with the ArtSci marketing & communication team to create email text, graphics and manage automated emails, sending communication through the university CRM, and by responding to email inquiries through the ArtSci website and Degree Finder.
  • Prepare and submit regular recruiting, enrollment, and retention reports to the Executive Associate Dean.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four years of related experience; OR an associate's degree plus two years of related experience; OR a bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials. On occasion candidates may need to have reliable access to transportation to travel locally to and from work sites.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in recruiting, admissions, academic advising, or a student affairs related area or related experience.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience supporting or engaging interdisciplinary student and faculty communities.
  • Public speaking, teaching, or training experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of admission and scholarship requirements and procedures.
  • Knowledege or experience in public relations, marketing, or project management.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines or departments.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Strategic student recruitment planning.
  • Data-informed decision-making to plan, assess, and evaluate programs.
  • Cross- organization collaboration and coordination.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of higher education.
  • Leadership and confidence to represent the College.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Banner, ARGOS, Salesforce, DegreeFinder, and/or other university software systems.
