Transportation Job Summary

The Patient Transportation Technician II ("Lead Tech"), under general supervision, oversees patient and non-patient transport throughout the entire Denver Health Medical Center main campus. Under the direct supervision of the Patient Transportation Manager, the Senior Tech assists in supervising employees within the Department

Essential Functions:
  • Staff Guidance and Training
    Initiates intradepartmental training, orientation of new staff - validates competency at end of orientation for employee file. Trains new staff on gait belt usage and weight bearing transfers. Coordinates break relief and meal schedules according to request activity.

  • Compliance Audits
    Conducts various audits to ensure compliance with operating standards, including but not limited to monitoring Ticket to Ride and Safety Intelligence report follow- up including staff coaching for improvement and success

  • Equipment Maintenance
    Ensures equipment management, wheelchairs, O2 and stretchers storage are in compliance with Joint Commission through rounding, recovery of departmental property and staff education of proper cleaning of equipment and storage locations.

  • Patient Transport
    Assists with completions of transport requests during high volume times to ensure achievement of standard of departmental transport jobs per hour, average completion.

Education:
  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED

Work Experience:
  • less than 1 year Previous transport or similar clinical experience

Licenses:
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with patients and staff.
  • Ability to perform reporting from EPIC, knowledge of EPIC transport dashboard.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other web based applications.
  • Knowledge of SI, SDS applications.
