Job Overview:




The Shipping & Receiving Associate performs a variety of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling functions in support of manufacturing operations. Assignments may include parts picking and packing, inbound receiving, inventory transactions, fork truck operation, painting for shipment, and custom crating for LTL freight, based on operational needs.




This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, accountability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting inventory accuracy, production flow, and on-time shipment of products.




Responsibilities:




(Assigned based on operational need; employees may be reassigned between functions)




Shipping - Parts Picker / Packer




  • Pick and pack parts accurately for customer and internal shipments

  • Verify part numbers, quantities, and shipment contents prior to packaging

  • Process shipments using UPS, FedEx, and other small-parcel systems

  • Identify and resolve part number, quantity, or documentation discrepancies

  • Ensure shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and staged




Shipping - LTL Crater / Packer




  • Pick large pumps or assemblies from stock for freight shipment

  • Measure products and build custom wooden crates as required

  • Use hand tools, measuring devices, pallet jacks, and fork trucks as needed

  • Secure products properly to prevent damage during transportation

  • Coordinate with shipping personnel to meet LTL and freight schedules




Shipping - Painter




  • Prepare, mask, and paint parts or assemblies for shipment

  • Confirm completion of paint operations in job travelers or systems

  • Ensure painted parts meet appearance and protection requirements

  • Stage painted parts to shipping or back to production as required

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in paint and prep areas




Receiving - Incoming Receiving Clerk




  • Receive incoming materials against purchase orders and packing lists

  • Verify part numbers, quantities, and condition of received materials

  • Perform ERP receiving transactions and assign inventory locations accurately

  • Ensure received materials are delivered to the correct location or personnel

  • Work with Purchasing and other departments to resolve receiving discrepancies

  • Support receipt of outside process parts and finished goods




Receiving - Fork Truck Driver / Inventory Control




  • Operate fork trucks or manually move materials to assigned storage locations

  • Put away materials accurately and efficiently

  • Perform inventory moves, transfers, and adjustments in SAP

  • Maintain accurate inventory location control

  • Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives




Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting



Core Competencies (All Assignments):



  • Follow standard work instructions, warehouse procedures, and safety requirements

  • Maintain accurate control of part numbers, quantities, and inventory locations

  • Perform SAP transactions accurately and in a timely manner

  • Identify, investigate, and escalate inventory, quantity, or documentation discrepancies

  • Support production and shipping schedules by ensuring materials and shipments are processed correctly

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Communicate effectively with production, purchasing, shipping, and supervision

  • Actively uphold safety standards and report unsafe conditions or practices

  • Perform other related duties as assigned based on operational needs




Preferences:




(Depending on Assignment)



  • Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, and inventory control, including use of UPS, FedEx, or similar shipment processing systems.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems and basic computer applications; ability to learn SAP, shipping, and inventory platforms (SAP experience is a plus).

  • Background in manufacturing or industrial environments, with hands-on experience using fork trucks, hand tools, and building custom packaging or crates.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational/time


    management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, remain productive with minimal supervision, and logically investigate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.




Physical Demands:



  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in warehouse and production areas

  • Industrial environment with exposure to noise, temperature variation, moving equipment, fumes, and chemicals




Union Relationship:




We proudly partner with District No. 8 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers with a closed shop, which means that all hourly employees are union members.



  • New employees are regarded as probationary for the first 60 working days of their employment.

  • After probation, the employee will join the union with an initiation fee and monthly dues.

Work Arrangement:



  • This position is fully onsite at the Alsip, IL facility




Pay Range



  • Starting Pay will be $21.85 per hour. This is a full-time, hourly position.
