Position Summary The Field Service Marine Engine Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling Caterpillar marine engines and related systems in the field. This role primarily supports customers operating towboats, dredges, and other marine vessels and requires the ability to work independently at customer locations, onboard vessels, and in active marine environments. Key Responsibilities * Perform field service diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Caterpillar marine engines, generators, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment. * Respond to service calls at customer vessels, docks, shipyards, and marine job sites. * Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic control systems in onboard and dockside environments. * Use CAT Electronic Technician (ET) for diagnostics, calibrations, and software updates. * Conduct in-field inspections, overhauls, commissioning, and sea trials. * Provide technical support and recommendations directly to customers in the field. * Accurately complete field service reports, work orders, and service documentation. * Maintain and operate a company-provided field service truck, tools, and diagnostic equipment. * Follow all safety protocols when working aboard vessels, in confined spaces, and around water. * Travel is required, including occasional overnight stays and emergency call-outs. | |
