POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Senior Director of External Communications, the Manager of External Communications leads the day-to-day implementation of BMC Health System's external communications strategy and serves as the central connector between high-level planning and operational execution. The Manager executes the monthly proactive media engagement plan, actively securing placement of news stories across local and national outlets, triages incoming media requests, and prepares briefing materials and talking points for administrators, clinicians, and executives. The Manager maintains strong relationships with key reporters and producers, oversees internal media reporting to ensure alignment with organizational priorities, and uses data and trends to inform ongoing media strategy. This role also supports the creation of external communications content and provides counsel to internal leaders as they seek to elevate their work externally. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: None EXPERIENCE: 5-8 years progressive experience in communications, including public relations, media relations, journalism, or a directly related field, is required. Experience in healthcare is required, and hospital media relations experience (particularly academic medical center experience) is desirable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS (responsible for on-call, 24 hr. coverage, etc.): Rotates on-call responsibility with other staff members Compensation Range: $90,500.00- $131,500.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
