Summary

The Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Specialist role is integral to the improvement of quality and patient safety opportunities that exist within the Lee Health organization, in alignment with Lee Healths strategic priorities. This role focuses on collaboration with clinical and non-clinical leaders, as well as Medical leadership and service lines, to analyze and improve identified patient safety events, quality issues, and quality and safety performance trends. The Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Specialist facilitates collegial Cause Analysis and Process Improvement teams. They also promote Lee Healths system-wide culture of safety through the utilization of critical thinking, problem solving, and serving as an educator and leader, with regards to quality.

Requirements

Education:

Master or Doctorate Degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, or Health Administration preferred. Bachelors degree required. If employee is Registered Nurse, nursing degree must be at least a Bachelors degree in Nursing.

Experience:

Minimum five (5) years of experience in quality and/or patient safety or formal healthcare leadership experience required.

Licensure:

Licensed individual preferred (Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physician Assistant, Physician). If licensed, must be active and unencumbered.

Certifications:

CPPS or CPHQ required. If not currently certified, must obtain certification within first two years of hire/ transfer.

Other:

Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong public speaking skills. Strong analytical and critical thinking ability. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint. Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities.
