Position description

The Rosenblum Lab in the Department of Dermatology at UC San Francisco is seeking a Research Specialist at the Junior or Assistant level. We are a basic immunology laboratory that studies how the immune system functions in both mouse and human tissues. Our research focuses on regulatory T cells (Tregs), an immune cell type critical for preventing autoimmunity. We seek to understand how Tregs influence homeostasis, inflammation, tissue repair, and cancer by interacting with other immune cells, parenchymal cells, and stem cells in the skin.

This position requires a 2-year commitment and will consist of hands-on laboratory research (100% time commitment). The position will primarily consist of supporting bench research with human tissues, including retrieving, processing, and flow cytometric analysis of human tissue and blood. Some projects may include studies utilizing mouse models of disease. The researcher may have opportunities to develop skills in bioinformatic analysis. There is opportunity to eventually drive/direct an independent research project.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage full-time in research and professional activities and will not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.

Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must possess a bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of equivalent research experience (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment, social science research methods, or creative activities). Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master's degree or a bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of research experience. Candidate's must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment. Candidate's CV must state qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.
