SUMMARY: Import and Logistics Analyst works in the Shipping area of CMPC Forest Products NA, LLC and reports directly to the Imports Operations Manager. The role's primary objective is to analyze, monitor and control the import and transportation processes for Lumber, boxboard, Forsac and Pulp subsidiaries, to include managing the services of suppliers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze, monitor and control cargo status for prompt arrival during water and port stages and transportation process from ports, borders, and warehouses.
- Gather information about ports' status and potential bottlenecks for cargo withdrawal
- Avoid demurrage and detention fees by identifying operational bottlenecks
- Monitor the status of cargo in water during shipping, making estimated time of arrivals (ETA) visible through communication with shipping companies and websites.
- Monitor shipments for timeliness and against customer expectations to include cargo dispatches and pickups from ports and warehouses
- Ensure the care and condition of the cargo in trucks is acceptable and maintained
- Ensure compliance with the service of transportation providers
- Operationally coordinate the logistics of cargo transportation from ports, borders and warehouses considering the planning and definitions of the area
- Obtain port and border export documents for CMPC Forest Products NA, LLC, such as estimated time of arrivals (ETA) and Bill of Lading (BL)
- Update shipping information coming from import operations, such as estimated time of arrivals (ETA) and Manufacturing on Demand Bill of Lading (MOD BL) (transshipment)
- Coordinate the logistics of cargo transportation from ports, considering the updated information from CMPC Forest Products NA, LLC Supply Chain
- Guarantee that the CMPC Forest Products NA, LLC Supply Chain notifies the port broker and carriers of the prompt arrival of cargo in a timely manner that prevents any unbudgeted costs
- Monitor carrier dispatches and customer cargo pick up from ports, and warehouses in accordance with port Last Free Day (LFD) and warehouse appointments
- Use various external systems to monitor assigned supply chains for any exceptions from budgeted transportation plans. Communicate those exceptions to all stake holders.
- Ensure the coordination of appointments between carriers, customers' carriers and warehouses for cargo delivery/pick up from warehouses.
- Obtain and manage the storage of Proof of Delivery receipts, communicate appointments between carriers, customers and warehouses to Supply USA Warehouse area
- Implement integration projects with CMPC Forest Products NA, LLC Supply Chain transportation providers
- Participate in regular meetings with carriers and CMPC Forest Products NA, LLC Supply Chain transportation providers
- Create and improve processes and standardize processes for Imports operation.
- Responsible for measuring carrier performance in terms of:
- Efficiency:
- Costs per ton, kilometer, and volume

- Fulfillment of cargo clearance at ports within deadlines given by Last Free Day (LFD)
- Compliance with the return of empty containers to the shipping company within the agreed deadlines
- Completion of batches dispatch in warehouses within the dates given by appointments
- Compliance of sending "Proof of Delivery" confirmation of shipments
- Compliance with quantitative and qualitative requirements of the fleet
- Fulfillment of service times in routes and origin / destination pairs
- Compliance with cargo care in loading, unloading and transportation processes
- Compliance with invoicing consistent with the service rendered

- Accident, damage, and shrinkage rates
- Ensure a standardized procedure is followed and agreed upon with the Transportation Manager and must be backed with quantitative and qualitative analysis.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree supply chain management, logistics, business management, or similar field
- 1-3 years of professional experience in supply chain and/or logisitics
- Understanding of logistics, shipping, port, and commercial processes
- Fluent in English
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace
- Must have attention to detail and focused concentration
- Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow
- Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness
- Must be able to complete tasks that require a particular speed or productivity quota
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol and must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner
