Job Summary
The Hand-Assembly Technician is responsible for performing precision assembly operations on circuit card assemblies (CCAs) in accordance with work instructions and engineering drawings. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure product integrity and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities


  • Perform hand-assembly tasks including masking, component placement, lead forming, bonding, and staking per established procedures.
  • Utilize precision tools such as tweezers, microscopes, soldering irons, and staking equipment to maintain tight tolerances and proper alignment.
  • Conduct in-process inspections (visual, dimensional, continuity) and accurately document results using inspection worksheets or electronic systems.
  • Identify non-conforming parts or processes, initiate corrective actions, and record findings in the quality system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, follow ESD control procedures, and comply with all safety and environmental policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve assembly issues and improve processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S and Kaizen, and recommend workflow enhancements.


Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or associate degree in electronics manufacturing or engineering technology preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience assembling circuit board assemblies, ideally in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
  • Proven inspection experience (visual, dimensional, AOI) with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with masking/unmasking processes for selective soldering or conformal coating.
  • Knowledge of lead forming and staking techniques for high-frequency or RF boards.
  • Prior experience in aerospace/defense or with military-specification hardware.
  • Familiarity with CS400 (cut and clinch) and other hand-insert equipment for PTH parts.
  • IPC/J-STD-001 certification.
  • Wave/select solder experience.


Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or associate degree in electronics manufacturing or engineering technology is a plus.


Work Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in circuit board assembly and inspection.
