Supports HIM in the creation of procedures and functions to derive the greatest value from the applications supported. Design, develop and implement Chart Review as required by Joint Commission. Uses technical and application knowledge to create specifications for changes, new functionality, and report requests. Key liaison to HIM, Medical Staff Affairs, and Members of the Medical Staff Joint Commission, and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) to ensure medical record accuracy, completion and compliance.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining an appropriate work environment to support the operation in accordance with Health Information Management (HIM) processes and requirements.

  • Supports all applications in use by the HIM Department with a working knowledge in more than one of the applications and all HIM functions that they support.
  • Supports HIM in the creation of procedures and functions to derive the greatest value from the applications supported.
  • Performs a quantitative analysis of each medical record to ensure compliance with Organization Rule & Regs, CMS and Joint Commission.
  • Prepares weekly pre-suspension reports for medical staff leadership.
  • Uses technical and application knowledge to create specifications for changes, new functionality, and report requests.
  • Key liaison to HIM, Medical Staff Affairs, Members of the Medical Staff, Joint Commission, and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) to ensure medical record accuracy and completion.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly and concisely and target communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provides support with database and spreadsheet development along with the needed infrastructure maintained.
  • Demonstrates sound analytical, problem solving, investigative and research ability as evidenced by experience in identification of requirements and the definition, evaluation and selections of appropriate solutions to business problems or opportunities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, to take direction and follow through, negotiate, achieve and support consensus decisions. Is flexible and adaptable to changes in assignments and the work environment, works independently, manages time efficiently and multi-tasks effectively.
  • Uses established methods, techniques and tools to document and maintain all deliverables created in accordance with department policies.
  • Develops, coordinates, and generates final reports, reviews for accuracy, distributes and educates as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Associate s degree in business, Health Information Management, Health Care Administration or a related area preferred and 2-4 years of experience in Health Information Management, Health Care, data management or data analysis.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, databases, and Word applications and competence in use of Health Information Technology (HIT).
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Access.
  • Requires analytical and problem-solving skills as well as ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in project management, research and database development and management.
  • Excellent written and organizational skills and the ability to work well with technical and non-technical users
