What to Expect
Tesla Energy is seeking a Compliance Engineer to lead regulatory certification and compliance activities for custom electromechanical service tools used across our industrial Battery Energy Storage Systems, Supercharger network, and residential energy products. This role ensures our internally developed service and manufacturing tools meet safety and regulatory requirements for deployment in North America, Europe, Australia, Latin America, and other international markets. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineering teams to integrate compliance requirements early in the design process, manage certification testing, and maintain documentation systems that support global market access.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end compliance strategy for electromechanical tools, from concept through certification and market release
- Interpret and apply safety standards including IEC 61010-1 (general safety requirements) and IEC 61010-2 series (particular requirements for laboratory, measurement, and control equipment)
- Lead testing programs including conducted and radiated emissions, electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity, and others
- Manage CE marking process including preparation of technical files, Declaration of Conformity, and EU Declaration of Incorporation where applicable
- Oversee compliance for North American markets including NRTL certification (UL, CSA, ETL) and coordination with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories
- Provide design guidance to engineering teams on compliance requirements during product development, including design reviews focused on safety and EMC considerations
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory engineering, or certification roles for electromechanical or electrical equipment
- Demonstrated experience with electrical safety concepts including creepage, clearance, insulation coordination, and protective grounding
- Hands-on experience with CE marking process and technical file preparation
- Familiarity with material compliance requirements (RoHS 2015/863, REACH SVHC, California Proposition 65)
- Experience working with NRTLs and international certification bodies
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail

Expected Compensation
$68,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
