Position Description

The Maintenance Manager provides strategic leadership for the maintenance and facilities function, focusing on reliability, cost optimization, and compliance. This role oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, manages budgets, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The position ensures alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, environmental).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize asset lifespan and reliability.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance technicians and staff, fostering a culture of safety and high performance.
  • Prepare annual maintenance budgets, forecast costs, and manage expenditures for parts, equipment, and labor.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and other local safety and health regulations.
  • Negotiate service contracts and manage external contractors for specialized repairs or large-scale facility projects.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and order supplies to ensure critical materials are available for immediate repairs.
  • Utilize computerized PM systems to track KPIs such as Downtime and prepare performance reports for upper management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) to improve uptime and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate facility operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and grounds maintenance.
  • Report KPIs to senior leadership and recommend corrective actions for performance gaps.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance/facilities experience with at least 3 years in leadership.
  • Deep understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), manufacturing machinery, and automated control systems (PLC).
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and verbal/written communication skills for interacting with both technicians and senior executives.
  • Proficiency in PM systems, budgeting, and vendor management. Knowledge of OSHA/EHS standards and reliability practices.
