Summary
The position involves performing nursing procedures and patient care tasks as assigned by the facility under the direction of the managing team, Director of Nurses, and/or Physician. The role requires utilizing specialized skills and judgment when delivering care to patients and implementing and evaluating patient care while performing nursing procedures to treat and rehabilitate patients.
Specific Duties
- Perform nursing care tasks and procedures consistent with individual treatment plans; administer medications as prescribed; observe and report responses to treatment and changes in health status; attend to personal needs, such as activities of daily living and hygiene tasks, and provide health teaching.
- Obtain and record temperatures, blood pressures, pulse rates, and other vital signs using standard instruments and procedures.
- Administer certain medications; observe residents and report changes in their condition; take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; obtain specimens for analysis.
- Prepare and apply simple dressings; bathe and feed residents; care for residents and their quarters by performing tasks such as making beds, changing linen, lifting, and moving residents and caring for their personal effects.
- Provide professional nursing services utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation/reevaluation.
- Monitor supplies to assure adequacy to meet resident needs.
- Communicate patient's needs to medical staff for coordination of care.
- Duties may include resident admission screening process which involves travel as necessary.
- Participate in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Participate in fiscal management, performance evaluations, maintain infection control standards, wound management, continuous quality improvement programs, formal and informal education.
- Provide supervision to subordinate professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in the performance of their resident care duties as well as facility supervision.
Requirements
- Currently licensed in New York State.
- Must have one year of medical/surgical experience or ER experience recommended.
- BLS certified.
- Mental Health experience preferred, but not required.
- No cell phones or electronic devices allowed in the facility.
- Requesting full-time but may consider part-time.
- Hours, shifts, days off will vary based on facility needs - primary need is 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am.
