Position Summary: An intern supports the assigned department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project design and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development. Responsible for providing field and office support for NEPA reports, wetlands and waters delineations, species surveys, and environmental permitting in Texas.



Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Assist senior or lead NEPA Specialist and Project Manager with basic data collection, including research, field visits, and environmental reports.
  • Help prepare reports and documents for wetlands and waters delineations, species surveys, and environmental permitting.
  • Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials.
  • Assist with project activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing drawings, and helping update documents.
  • Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed.
  • Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices.
  • Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members.
  • Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold field conditions for up to 10 hours per day

Required Skills

  • Familiarity in using standard Microsoft Office for document creation and email communication.
  • Ability to prepare well organized, clear, and concise written materials.
  • Ability to support work with attention to detail and creativity.
  • Developing presentation skills, including communicating ideas to different groups.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively with guidance from supervisors.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate well with others.

Required Experience

  • Full-time, undergraduate student in natural resources, environmental science, biology or similar field



Preferred Experience



  • Previousinternship or relevant work experience.
  • Coursework in related field.
  • Familiarity with design and production software (ArcGIS Pro and Adobe Pro), with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro and GNSS data collection.
  • Basic knowledge of National Environmental Policy Act documentation
  • Basic knowledge of USACE 1987 Manual
  • Basic knowledge of species surveys



Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment, and outside (>50%) field work associated wetland delineations and species habitat assessments; thus, the candidate should be physically able and willing to work up to 8 continuous hours per day in potentially very hot conditions during the summer months (May through August).
