GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB This is the second of two levels in the Marketing series. Incumbents develop marketing plans and materials to promote the services and/or activities of an assigned function or department. Responsibilities may include writing, editing, and printing written promotional materials; preparing training materials; writing and editing marketing materials for inclusion on a website; preparing news releases; negotiating media sponsorship of events; purchasing ad space; analyzing customer data to identify trends and opportunities; recommending service pricing and packaging options; representing assigned function or department to the media and the public; and maintaining related records. Incumbents may supervise fewer than two lower-level marketing or administrative support employees.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions:
Coordinates marketing and communication initiatives on assigned projects, which may include developing and implementing marketing plans; negotiating media sponsorships; preparing news releases; purchasing ad space; analyzing customer trends; managing information and measuring progress on tasks, projects, and goals; and performing related activities. Developing a variety of marketing and communication materials to promote the programs, services, activities, assigned function and regulatory authority compliance of the Gas, Water and Wastewater department, which includes creating and editing marketing materials for inclusion on the website; developing timelines; and determining distribution methods to reach intended audience(s). Maintains a variety of marketing materials, promotional items, communication materials, and/or other applicable items and records. Edits and proofreads publications and communication materials to ensure content meets established design criteria. Monitors and maintains a variety of operational records; and may prepare basic operational reports. May supervise staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; preparing training materials; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Performs other related work as required.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING Education and Experience:
Associate degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Two (2) years of marketing, public relations, or communications experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
Licensing and Certifications Requirements:
- Possession of a valid Class D Driver's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
