Position Summary

The Genetic Counselor demonstrates expertise in genetic evaluation and counseling of individuals and families. Responsible for patient/family genetic education, review of prior medical records, tracking of division metrics, and participating in genetic research projects. Works in collaboration with medical, nursing, and support services to provide family centered care.



Provides comprehensive genetic counseling services in inpatient and outpatient settings, including patient assessments, family history analysis, care planning, and documentation. Educates patients and families on diagnosis, inheritance, recurrence risks, and genetic testing. Coordinates testing, maintains patient databases, and communicates effectively with clinical and referring providers. Participates in professional development, supports medical resident education, and contributes to research initiatives to advance clinical practice and scientific knowledge.



Requirements:




  • Master's level degree from an ACGC-accredited graduate Genetic Counseling Training Program
  • Board-Eligible or Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling; new graduates have 2 years from graduation to obtain certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written
  • Ability to effectively deal with stress



Salary Range: Minimum 36.52/hour - Maximum 58.44/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
