  • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Mon-Fri) On-Site (Franklin, WI Facility)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $94,100 - $124,656. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Safety and Environmental Services? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Safety team. As Safety & Environmental Manager, you'll be crucial in ensuring continued innovation and supporting our diverse team.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager-Safety & Environmental, this position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulatory requirements utilizing economical, effective and efficient concepts. This position will work closely with leadership, engineering and others to conduct risk assessments, develop systems to capture and analyze data and implement comprehensive safety and environmental programs to mitigate risk. This position will assist in the creating, implementation and maintenance of best-in-class safety and environmental training, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall compliance with OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulations or permit requirements, establishing and coordinating facility audits and inspections, and addressing, completing and documenting corrective actions.
  • Regular shop floor interaction including attending daily Gemba meetings to foster communications with Operations, Facilities, Logistics, Engineering teams and others.
  • Track Federal, State and Local safety & environmental regulations and evaluates their effects on company operations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert, providing oversight and guidance on safety & environmental topics including but not limited to: Location, Emergency Response Plan (LERP); Electrical Safety, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC); Hazard Communication and GHS, Safety Data Sheets, TSCA, Fire Prevention, LOTO, Confined Space, Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, PIV, Asbestos, Industrial Air and Noise monitoring, Sustainability and Waste Management compliance, Waste Minimization and Pollution Prevention.
  • Coordinate with the Health Services Occupational Health Nurse and Biokinetix ergonomic trainers on case management and injury trends.
  • Facilitate activities of the Emergency Response Team, Safety Action Teams.
  • Execute proactive incident prevention and injury reduction initiatives.
  • Work with Leadership to immediately deal with incidents and injuries to identify containment and corrective actions.
  • Develop, coordinate and lead safety & environmental training for new hires and current team members.
  • Maintain and expand S&C's ISO certifications, coordinating internal and external audits, and further improving these systems, including ISO 140001, ISO 45001.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional organizations within S&C to drive health, safety & environmental initiatives.
  • Coordinate audits, data collection and industrial hygiene samplings, etc. while making improvements towards efficiency.
  • Communication with outside regulatory bodies.
  • Create instruction bulletins and standard work practices related to Health, Safety & Environmental processes.

Additional Functions:

  • Ownership of the High Voltage electrical testing program including test cage team member certifications and test unit key control.
  • Periodic support on 2nd shift.
  • Perform ergonomic reviews and PPE assessments.
  • Contractor Safety Management.
  • Occasionally, qualify new tooling/process/chemistries for manufacturing by performing safety reviews.
  • Occasionally, visit tooling/equipment suppliers to inspect tooling/equipment during Factory Acceptance Testing.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering/Sciences, Chemical Engineering/Chemistry or other Life Sciences (or related undergrad).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Safety & Environmental role.
  • Demonstrated sustained high level performance and ability to provide governmental compliance insights and best practices to guide corporate decision making and establish rapport with strong oral and written communication skills to effectively coach, teach, train, collaborate and report to team members, experts in different areas and Sr. Leadership throughout S&C globally.
  • Demonstrated use of technical expertise to build effective solutions, and successfully represent the HSE team and how the group can contribute to S&C's business objectives.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle a variety of safety & environmental projects and assignments, and to bring an effective approach to the solution of technical objectives.
  • Project Management.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver training.
  • Incident Investigation proficiency including risk assessment and root cause analysis, countermeasure development and PDCA methods.

Preferred:

  • ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH, CIT.
  • Ability to support on-call and after-hours work occasionally some travel to other S&C locations.
  • Previous experience with working cloud based Health, Safety & Environmental data management software and tools (Intelex, Enablon, Cority, GaBi software, Sphera, Oracle, PowerBI, SharePoint Online, etc.)
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Safety Practices.

Major Physical Demands:

Sitting-Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks for 8 hours at a time approximately [5] days per week

Walking-Occasionally required to walk moderate distances multiple times each day while performing a FAT or on a job site

Manual Dexterity-Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment

Observation / Eyesight-Frequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors

Communication-Continuously required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls

Travel-Occasionally required to travel (up to 20%) and work extended hours when necessary. Required to travel overnight and infrequently, on weekends. Infrequently required to travel internationally.
