Duties/Responsibilities:

  • R&D and programmatic support for the fusion blanket program.
  • Participation in reviews and planning for scientific and technical reviews of the fusion development milestone program.
  • Planning, research, and development for fusion facilities in the blanket and fusion prototypic neutron areas.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience supporting research and development activities in a laboratory, engineering, or scientific environment.
  • Foundational understanding of fusion energy systems, nuclear materials, or reactor technology.
  • Ability to support complex technical programs, including planning, documentation, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills applied to scientific or engineering challenges.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to contribute to technical reviews, prepare summaries, and participate in program planning discussions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving program priorities.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Plasma Physics, or a related advanced field.
  • Direct experience with fusion blanket systems, prototypic neutron environments, or fusion technology R&D.
  • Experience contributing to technical reviews, milestone assessments, or R&D program evaluations within national laboratories, DOE programs, or similar research environments.
  • Knowledge of neutron transport, thermal-hydraulics, materials degradation, or related analytical/experimental methods.
  • Experience in planning or designing fusion-relevant facilities, testbeds, or experimental platforms.
  • Familiarity with regulatory, safety, and quality assurance processes applicable to fusion or nuclear technology research.
  • Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and interface with program sponsors, stakeholders, and scientific partners.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • Remote.
  • Schedule is part-time with work hours based on project needs.
