Job Summary

This position is scheduled to begin August 2026.

Provides instruction in early childhood education courses in alignment with MCC's college mission, vision and values and learner-centered instructional philosophy to a diverse student population. Uses multiple methods and modalities of instruction, assessment and appropriate technologies to engage students and promote student success. Demonstrates a commitment to rigorous curriculum, innovative strategies for teaching and learning, collaboration, service excellence and professional development.

Essential Functions

Instructs, evaluates, and monitors learning of a diverse population of students in a variety of teaching modalities inclusive of face-to-face, hybrid, synchronous online, and asynchronous online, using a variety of learning strategies such as active learning, real world experiences, instructional technology, etc., as appropriate.

Reviews, revises, and develops curriculum. Is available to support and mentor adjunct faculty. Maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students.

Actively participates in service to the department and college that contributes to the support of student learning. Service includes involvement in district-wide, campus and departmental committees, activities, and initiatives.

Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and incorporates individual skills required to stay current with new trends and developments in the field acquired by professional blogs, newsletters, books as well as attendance and engagement at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.

Minimum Qualifications

The Academic Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:

A Master's degree or higher with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field or a Master's degree or higher in the teaching field is required.

Desired Qualifications

A. Teaching / Work Experience: Five (5) or more years of P-3rd teaching and/or classroom related work experience in early childhood settings.

B. Teaching Modalities: Demonstrate knowledge and effective application of varied teaching formats, i.e., face-to-face, hybrid, synchronous online, and asynchronous online environments.

C. Curriculum / Instruction / Assessment: Demonstrate familiarity with early childhood education curriculum/standards and the principles of a student-centered approach in developing instructional activities and assessments to assist students with the mastery of those standards using culturally sustaining pedagogies.

D. Collaboration: Demonstrate experience working creatively and collaboratively with other professionals to innovate and problem-solve.

E. Leadership: Demonstrate experience in designing visionary projects, execution and completion of projects; and establishing collaborative partnerships.

F. Professional Development: Evidence of active involvement in the field of early childhood education beyond teaching such as participation in committees, workshops, and professional organizations at the local, state, and national level.

Special Working Conditions

Depending on the needs of the department, may be required to teach:

evening and/or weekend classes

face-to-face or synchronous or asynchronous online format classes

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen especially if teaching online or remotely

May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs

Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
