Langley Federal Credit Union is currently hiring for a Full Time Network Engineer to work a Hybrid schedule from our Oyster Point office building, located in Newport News, VA.

Job Summary:

Designs, installs, maintains, and resolves issues related to networking and communications systems and devices. Collaborates with diverse network technologies and physical and virtual devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and VoIP phones. Oversees network performance, security, and availability, providing technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:



  • Design, configure, and implement network and communication solutions using various hardware and software platforms.
  • Performs network and communication analysis, testing, and optimization to ensure optimal performance, capacity, availability, security, and reliability.
  • Monitor and maintain network and communication systems and devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and VoIP phones.
  • Troubleshoot and report network and communication issues, errors, incidents, outages, latency, events, and activities.
  • Document and update network and communication configurations, diagrams, manuals, reports, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff on network and communication-related matters.
  • Participate in network and communication projects, upgrades, migrations, expansions, and integrations.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and external partners on network and communication initiatives.
  • Follow network and communication standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage network and communication resources using automated inventories to display details, firmware versions, licenses, and support renewal dates.
  • Provide Tier II Help-Desk support and participate in on-call rotation.
  • Research and evaluate new network and communication technologies, products, and services.



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technical major, or at least four (4) years of experience in network and communication design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance required. An equivalent combination of education and experience also accepted.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in network and communication protocols, standards, and technologies, such as LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, ExpressRoute, VoIP, wireless, and firewalls.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience administering data, voice, VoIP communication circuits, and enterprise-class network and telephone systems, with attention to detail and documentation.
  • Certifications in network and communication technologies, such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet, MCP, Telephony, or CompTIA Network+, are preferred.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and keep up with emerging network and communication trends and technologies.
