ARES is looking for an individual with experience in Graphic Design to join our team supporting the Orion Program on the Mission Technical Integration Contract at the Johnson Space Center. This is a temporary, entry-level position (start date January 2026). Primary responsibilities include:
- Assist in the creation, layout, and design of post-flight certificates.
- Maintain and update participant lists required for certificate generation.
- Coordinate with the NASA Print Lab to produce physical copies of certificates.
- Prepare commemorative materials by mounting designated items onto certificates.
- Frame completed certificates for formal presentation.
- Design and assemble PowerPoint presentations for use during commemorative events.
- Ensure consistency across all design assets, including proper logo usage, color schemes, typography, and imagery.
- Edit, format, and retouch commemorative post-flight certificate materials as needed.
- Support the production, organization, and archival of design assets.
- Collaborate closely with the Orion Strategic Team to understand project requirements, timelines, and design standards, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to plan, lead, and coordinate a wide range of tasks.
- Self-starter who excels in a dynamic environment that requires him/her to work effectively both alone and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite.
- Working knowledge of graphic design and publication layout portfolio is required. Portfolio will be evaluated on quality of freelance or past intern work only.
- Classwork will not be considered.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills.
- Demonstrated experience prioritizing multiple tasks with tight deadlines while coordinating with an internal and external network of affiliated/impacted contractors and civil servants.
- Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to quickly resolve technical mishaps or unforeseen events in meetings to minimize meeting down time and stress.
- Must be customer focused and can articulate and patiently instruct others (peers, managers, teammates, and customers) in relevant team processes.
- Experience working individually and actively participating on integrated teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Suite to include Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to utilize meeting tools such as TEAMS, WebEx, etc.
- Experience with leading a project or event, or experience with self-starting or self-leading (in professional career) is a plus.
- Experience in document management and control
Education:
- BA/BS Degree from an accredited college or university within the next 6 months in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Fine Arts or related field preferred.
- Preference is for 1-3 years of related experience.
