Inclusion Instructor - YMCA of the North Shore

Part-Time | Making a Difference Through Inclusive Programming

This position may support multiple YMCA locations across the North Shore.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Inclusion Instructor to support participants of all ages and abilities in a welcoming, supportive environment. Under the direction of the Program Director, you will play a key role in delivering adaptive lessons, ensuring safety, and fostering positive relationships with participants and families. This role may require travel between locations depending on program needs.


What You'll Do:

Instruction & Adaptation




  • Lead program lessons for children and adults across varying levels and abilities using provided lesson plans.



  • Modify and adapt instruction using positive behavior guidance and appropriate adaptive equipment.




Individual Activity Planning




  • Conduct parent intake meetings to develop Individual Activity Plans that support participant success.



  • Communicate plans with internal staff and provide tools or training as needed.




Participant Evaluation & Progress




  • Evaluate participant abilities and offer age-appropriate feedback.



  • Implement progressive skill-building drills to support long-term growth.



  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress notes, and skill records.




Safety & Program Area Maintenance




  • Promote a safe environment by following YMCA policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.



  • Ensure program spaces remain clean, organized, and well maintained; report equipment issues promptly.




Communication & Relationship Building




  • Build positive, trusting relationships with participants, families, and staff.



  • Provide program information and refer questions to the Program Director as needed.

Qualifications
Qualifications


  • 21+ years of age



  • CPR & Standard First Aid certified (must maintain current certifications)



  • Experience with children/youth with diverse abilities preferred



  • Skilled at adapting instruction for varying abilities and developmental levels



  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills




Work Environment & Physical Requirements


  • Physically able to demonstrate skills as needed



  • Clear verbal communication and quick response in emergencies



  • Visual and auditory awareness for safety



  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs
