Job Summary: The Radar Engineer (Mid-Level) supports engineering, mission management, test & evaluation, and integration activities for CBP Air & Marine Operations' Tactical Maritime Surveillance Systems (TMSS) within the Domain Awareness Persistent Systems enterprise. Work includes radar system engineering, performance analysis, integration support, technical troubleshooting, test planning, and assisting with capability enhancements across TMSS sites. The Radar Engineer (Mid-Level) contributes to the modernization and sustainment of TMSS sensors including radars, EO/IR, communications nodes, and data pathways-supporting AMO's evolving maritime domain awareness mission. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform radar system engineering support including requirements analysis, subsystem evaluation, integration planning, and performance assessments consistent with DHS SELC processes.
- Assist with TMSS mission management activities such as readiness monitoring, operational alignment, and documenting performance trends across maritime surveillance sites.
- Support Test & Evaluation activities by contributing to test plan development, data collection methods, analysis procedures, execution of integration or regression tests, and documentation of findings.
- Provide inputs to acquisition and programmatic activities including milestone documentation, engineering trade studies, technical risk reviews, and developing material for program briefings.
- Support integration of TMSS radars, sensors, communications equipment, and supporting components to ensure compatibility with DAPS enterprise architectures and operational workflows.
- Assist with configuration management tasks including participating in design reviews (PDR/CDR), supporting Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and updating technical documentation.
- Conduct radar performance reviews including availability metrics, error/fault trending, detection performance indicators, and system readiness assessments.
- Coordinate with interagency stakeholders-including DHS S&T, FAA, USCG, and Navy-as directed, supporting technical data exchanges and compliance activities.
- Provide engineering sustainment support including LRU evaluation, DMSMS identification, maintenance recommendations, and documentation updates.
- Prepare and deliver technical inputs for briefings, engineering reports, test results, risk summaries, and integration updates for Government leadership.
Competencies:
- Systems engineering expertise across radar, EO/IR, maritime sensor systems, communications, and multi-domain surveillance technologies; to include passive bistatic, traditional spinning radars, and AESA
- Knowledge of TMSS operations, maritime surveillance architectures, and littoral domain awareness
- Proficiency in Test & Evaluation planning, data analysis, test execution, and evaluation frameworks
- Strong program management, acquisition lifecycle, and milestone documentation skills
- Experience developing requirements, evaluating trades, and supporting engineering design reviews
- Mission management familiarity including readiness metrics, operations alignment, and maritime threat picture support
- Understanding of cybersecurity, network communications, and TRDN/enterprise data pathways impacting TMSS
- Proficiency with configuration management processes, ECP generation, and engineering baseline control
- Executive-level communication, briefing development, and stakeholder coordination
- Ability to collaborate within IPTs and cross-functional technical teams
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; engineering, criminal justice, applied science, or technical discipline preferred. Equivalent operational or testing experience may substitute for degree requirements.
- 2-5 years supporting engineering programs within DHS, DoD, or maritime surveillance environments.
- Experience with maritime sensor systems, radars, EO/IR systems, command-and-control infrastructure, or coastal surveillance systems.
- Experience supporting Test & Evaluation, including test plan development, data analysis, and system-level test execution.
- Experience supporting mission management functions such as readiness reporting, maritime operations coordination, or mission performance monitoring.
- Experience leading or contributing to acquisition documentation, milestone preparation, and program-level reporting.
- Experience supporting IPTs, interagency engineering efforts, or field integration activities.
- PMP, DAU T&E Level I/II certifications, preferred.
Security Requirement:
- Favorably adjudicated CBP Background Investigation (BI) or Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) required.
Travel Required:
- Occasional CONUS travel required for program reviews and operational assessments (15-25%)

Salary Description
$150,000 - $170,000
