You'll lead the entire development process, from design and fabrication to testing and analysis, for complex photonic devices and systems-on-chip.   • Photonic Chip & Laser Design: Develop advanced III-V semiconductor-based photonic chips and laser products for telecommunications and data communications applications. Includes EPI design (e.g., MQW layers), device design (DFB lasers, modulators, photodetectors), and PIC integration.
  • Modeling & Simulation: Perform optical mode, RF, quantum well, and laser cavity simulations to optimize high-speed and high-power device performance.
  • Process Development & Manufacturing: Collaborate with external foundries for chip fabrication; define processes with DFM/DFY guidelines; drive technology from concept through qualification to production.
  • Testing & Analysis: Plan and execute electrical and optical testing; analyze data for performance, yield, and reliability improvements; lead failure analysis and reliability testing.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate with packaging, module, and supplier teams; manage product lifecycle from development to volume ramp; ensure quality and timely component delivery.
  • Innovation & Roadmap: Define technology roadmap aligned with future product needs; lead initiatives for novel designs and thermal management solutions.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Provide executive-level updates; engage with global ecosystem partners; drive technical problem-solving for yield, reliability, and process challenges.
  • Note: On-site role in New York City office. Must be open for relocation.

You have:

  • Education: BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields.
  • Experience: 10+ years in laser product engineering or semiconductor technology development, with leadership in cross-functional teams.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of semiconductor lasers, photodetectors, and optoelectronic device theory.
    • Hands-on experience in design and characterization of high-speed lasers (DFB, EML, VCSEL) and high-power lasers.
    • Familiarity with SOAs, PICs, and semiconductor fabrication processes.
  • Skills:
    • Reliability testing, failure analysis, and product lifecycle management.
    • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication abilities.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven track record working with suppliers, OSATs, and foundry partners.
