Senior Network Engineer Location: 100% Remote Position Overview: The Senior Network Engineer will play a critical role in supporting Production Operations for the Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System (DEAMS) Operations Integrated Product Team (IPT). This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise to ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of critical IT systems in a dynamic environment. Job Duties:
- Provide expert-level support to the Operations IPT by carrying out the following:
- Perform troubleshooting and support network performance monitoring including but not limited to system failures, trouble tickets, technology upgrades and aid with identification of system input bottlenecks that support the long-term efficiency of DEAMS trafficker interfaces with the AF network and standard desktop configuration.
- Support the review of the network infrastructure for new applications and services relating to DEAMS traffic for users, interfaces, and interfaces with external systems
- Support the review of client connectivity for the EBS application and support introduction of technologies such as Java Web Start (JWS) installation, setup, and customer usage.
- Support user experience monitoring efforts, including evaluation of activities with respect to enterprise toolsets and shared services. Also including reporting issues, potential issues, and changes from external entities to leadership.
- Engage in routine communications with Integrated Network Operation Security Centers INOSC/DISA/OCI/CloudOne/ERP CS network management teams to discuss the need for network changes and the feasibility of projects recommended by DEAMS PMO. These communications may include meetings, IPT sessions, workflow notifications, etc.
- Monitor technology trends and make recommendations on incorporating new technology into the DEAMS existing platforms to ensure AF network compatibility.
- Monitor USAF Standard Desktop configurations for updates/changes to Microsoft office, Java versions, Internet Browser (Edge/Chrome), digital signature version and URL associated with instances of DEAMS (i.e. Dev/Training/Test/Pro-Production/Production).
- Participate in joint operational cooperation and capability with the Integrated Network Operation Security Centers (INOSC) (EAST/WEST/ANG), AFNIC, DISA, DEAMS/SDC LDTO, CloudOne, ERP CS, USAF A6, MAJCOM A6, COCOMS J6, Unified Command J6, ANG, USAFR, DEAMS FMO and DFAS.
- Work with Cyber to collect artifacts and remedy STIG violations
- Support the Oracle Government Cloud Virtual Enclave by
- Building and administering a virtual desktop environment
- Support Architecture for Network topologies
- Support Architecture and administration for Microsoft domain technologies
- Support DNS hosting both internal and external
- Support Microsoft domain setup and implementation
- Support Certificate management
- Assist with various production issues
- Document technical processes, issue resolutions, and system configurations to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base.
- Developing user guides
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience managing multiple, concurrent activities in a fast-paced, mission-critical IT environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
- Extensive experience in IT system administration, including troubleshooting, and production support.
- Be familiar with Java Runtime Environment on the DOD STIG compliant workstation and support trouble shooting (which may include engaging with the customer on installation/setup/usage/diagnose/document/remediate/validate/monitor) on changes to the DEAMS Users: Network, Operating System changes, Microsoft office changes, Java versions, Internet Browser, digital signature version and URL associated with instances of DEAMS (i.e. Dev/Training/Test/Pro-Production/Production).
- Have a background in data network (Proxy/Firewall/Gateways/Switches/RoutersF5/VPN, client applications (Operating Systems/MS Office/Java/Web Browsers). Desirable background experience includes Information Assurance, Oracle Access Manager (OAM), Oracle Internet Directory (OID), F5 BIG-IP device including APM module and Oracle engineered systems such as Supercluster.
- Experience with OCI is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact operations.
- Preferred: Knowledge of DoD IT systems, security protocols, or experience supporting financial management systems like DEAMS.
