Responsibilities
Responsible for coordinating the patient intake process. Responsible for patient intake calls; providing information to individuals, agencies, facilities and Professional Staff (i.e. Physicians, therapists, hospitals) requesting information regarding potential admissions, developing/maintaining relationships with ongoing referral sources referring to alternate treatment sources when appropriate assisting with travel arrangements for patients and families, completing necessary admission paperwork. Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed private residential treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents who have emotional, behavioral and neurobehavioral problems. Qualifications Education: Must have Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferable in the mental health field. Experience: Clinical experience in psychiatric setting; situational evaluation and crisis intervention. Skills: High level of initiative, motivation, independent judgment and organizational skills. Ability to relate to those emotionally disturbed and in crisis. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Ability to assess the clinical and financial appropriateness of potential admissions and facilitating external arrangements for admissions including coordinating staff assignments for care and bed placement. Essential Physical Requirements: Medium demand, mentally. Requires extensive time sitting, writing, talking on telephone. Ability to assist in crisis intervention, able to lift up to 40 pounds.
