| Essential Job Duties |
Under the supervision of the PI, the research technician is to support greenhouse and laboratory activities related to plant health and disease management in horticultural crops. This position offers hands-on experience in applied plant pathology, horticultural plant production, and sustainable production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with greenhouse plant care, including potting, watering, monitoring, and general maintenance.
- Support preparation and handling of greenhouse substrate materials.
- Help set up and maintain experiments evaluating plant growth and plant health responses.
- Record observations, collect basic data, and maintain organized research notes.
- Work with the microbial ecology of plant root systems

- Combination of training and experience required to perform the duties

- Extensive experience in plant pathology, horticultural plants, or related fields
- Basic laboratory techniques, proper use of lab equipment such as autoclaves and thermocyclers, and knowledge of lab safety techniques
- Ability to manage projects within a team environment, work independently, and responsibly with minimal supervision once trained
- Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and reliability
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in greenhouse conditions
- Ability to use aseptic techniques to prepare culture media for fungi
- Perform bioassays in the greenhouse
- Compiling and formatting data for analysis
- Excellent management skills
