DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the clinic manager, providers, and licensed nursing staff, this position performs patient care duties requiring specialized knowledge and training in accordance with the California Business and Professions Code and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.

The role will primarily support multi-specialty clinics with a focus on Cardiology and Stroke.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and completing medication reconciliation.
  • Assisting with patient check-out after appointments.
  • Scheduling patient appointments.
  • Managing equipment and supplies.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting clinical environments.
  • Reviewing charts and collaborating with licensed staff to communicate with patients.
  • Applying and registering cardiac event monitors.
  • Performing 12-lead EKG's.
  • Assisting with patient wheelchair transport.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Recent experience as a medical assistant.

  • Demonstrated medical terminology.

  • Demonstrates initiative and strong prioritization skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Exceptional customer service skills are essential.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Cardiology clinic experience.
  • EPIC ambulatory experience.
  • Experience performing 12 lead EKG.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Must be able to work at all cardiology clinic locations including La Jolla, Banker's Hill, Medical Offices South, and Encinitas.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $52,847 - $65,772 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.31 - $31.50

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
