| Primary Purpose of Position |
The special collections and archives librarian is responsible for the daily operations of the reading room. They will coordinate workflow of acquiring, processing, and research of the special collections materials. They will participate in the strategic and goal setting related to their area. They will promote the use of primary materials in the community and in classroom. They will make recommendations of budgetary needs for their area. They will participate in other duties as directed by the assistant dean and dean of the library. Occassional weekend coverage. |
| Job Description |
The Special Collections and Archives Librarian role will focus on the management and preservation of the university's Special Collections and University Archives, while also driving financial and material support. The librarian will administer digital collections and library systems and ensure the proper housing, preservation, and handling of all physical materials. This position works closely with technical services on collection development, rare book cataloging, and digitization. The librarian will participate in donor relationship building and work with advancement to secure resources, and will also research, write, and submit grants to support the department. Core duties include providing research assistance to patrons, supervising staff, teaching instruction sessions and
LIB 1000, and maintaining collection use statistics and reporting.
This position is Mandatory Personnel. Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events.

Academic library experience working in archives or special collections is required. Experience with grant writing, outreach, college level teaching, reference, fundraising, and staff supervision is preferred. |
