STV currently has an opening in our New York City or New Jersey office for a Structural & Tunneling Engineer in our Centers of Excellence division.In this position as a Structural/Tunneling Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects for the Transportation and Infrastructure department. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and analysis of underground structures, such as tunnels, caverns, and shafts

  • Develop design budget and schedule.

  • Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and construction professionals to ensure that designs meet project specifications and requirements

  • Develop and review construction plans, drawings, and specifications for underground structures, and supervise the work of junior engineers and technicians

  • Conduct structural calculations and analyses to determine load capacities, stability, and safety factors, and review and approve calculations prepared by junior engineers

  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools to create and modify design drawings and models, and supervise the work of junior engineers and technicians

  • Perform QA/QC checking of projects completed by other engineers.

  • Prepare project reports and documentation, and communicate with clients and other stakeholders regarding project progress and issues

  • Monitor construction activities to ensure that they are in compliance with the design plans and specifications, and resolve any construction-related issues that arise during the project

Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. Degree in Civil engineering. Master's degree in civil or structural engineering is preferred.

  • PE license required.

  • Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, especially related to underground structures

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on underground structures

  • Advanced understanding or willingness to learn and utilize engineering software, such as SAP2000, , GT STRUDEL, LARSA, CSiBridge, RISA, MIDAS and MATHCAD.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to lead a team

  • Good communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work with clients and other stakeholders

  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as FHWA, AREMA, ACI 318, AISC, and ASCE 7

  • Experience with project management, including managing budgets, schedules, and resources, is a plus.

Compensation Range:

$82,265.06 - $109,686.74
