Plant Manager -Energy Systems Manufacturing (Houston, TX)

The Plant Manager will be the site leader responsible for the overall performance, profitability (P&L), and growth of the Houston facility, which specializes in manufacturing of substations and power distribution systems across various voltage levels. This role requires a strong leader that can run a high quality, efficient modern manufacturing plant and who relates well to the technical demands of the products manufactured.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and P&L Management



  • Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) for the Houston manufacturing and engineering site, including managing budgets, controlling costs, and driving revenue growth.
  • Provide leadership and management oversight to all functional areas, including Manufacturing and Test Engineering, Production, Materials Planning, Purchasing and Logistics as well as Quality and Equipment Engineering functions.
  • Build, lead and motivate a disciplined team that delivers results in terms of operational execution, quality and cost in a fun and motivating environment that fosters employee growth and development.



Engineering and Product Excellence Oversight



  • Directly manage the Manufacturing Engineering and Test Engineering functions and ensure the effective industrialization of all MV Distribution Transformers and Switchgear products.
  • Ensure technical integrity and compliance of all products with national and international standards (IEEE, ANSI/NEMA, UL).
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost, focusing on manufacturability, cost reduction and product quality.



Manufacturing Operations and Performance



  • Oversee all production and operational activities to meet daily, weekly, and quarterly output, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • Implement and champion Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, 5S, TPM) and continuous quality improvement methodologies to maximize efficiency and capacity utilization.
  • Establish and enforce a rigorous Safety (HSE) and Quality culture, ensuring strict adherence to company policies, regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA), and ISO certifications.
  • Manage the facility's purchasing execution to ensure timely delivery and optimized cost of materials for both production and new product introduction.



Qualifications




  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial) or Operations Management. An MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in a high-mix manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a Plant Manager role.
  • Industry Knowledge of power distribution equipment or closely related electrical equipment manufacturing industry would be an advantage.



Core Competencies:




  • Demonstrated experience managing a full P&L in a relevant manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proven leadership strengths.
  • Strong knowledge of industry quality standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO, UL, IEEE, NEMA).
  • This is a full-time on-site function.

Salary Range (annual): $150,000 - $165,000 . Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
