Summary:

The Director of Physical and Occupational Therapy provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Adult and Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapy service line at Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals. Responsibilities include managing inpatient and outpatient therapy locations, as well as swing bed therapy programs across both acute care hospitals.

The position ensures patient- and family-centered care by coordinating clinical and unit activities, collaborating with key stakeholders on planning and decision-making, and serving as a primary role model for staff. This leader coaches, empowers, and supports team members in their professional growth while advancing the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in an accredited program required; or Master's degree from accredited program preferred.
  2. License/Certification: Active rehab services license. Current BCLS required. Other certifications specific department policies may be required.
  3. Experience: One to two (1-2) years' demonstrated clinical competence and leadership or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  4. Ability to mentor and empower staff; to set the climate on each shift for cooperation and teamwork.
  5. Self-directed and self-motivated with a firm understanding of other nursing and leadership roles; skilled change agent.
  6. Effective communicator with the ability to create strong partnerships; serves as a role model through professional behavior and open, direct communication.
