The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The Mental Health Associate position provides care to the patients and maintains a safe environment under the direct supervision of the registered nurse. Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in a Psychology related field
- or a minimum of 5 years behavioral health experience required.
- Minimum 1 year experience, training, or education in the field of treatment preferred
- Maintains required Heart Saver CPR certification/course completion status
- Successful completion of all orientation programs
- Must possess excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-Time
- Day Shift
- Weekends and Holidays are required
Essential Functions:
- Assists with ambulation techniques, assistive devices, and patient positioning,
- Assists with the nutritional needs of patients; collects specimens; and takes and records vital signs,
- Completes personal hygiene for assigned patients,
- Formulates positive and supportive therapeutic relationships with the patients and staff,
- Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary staff to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere on the unit and notifies professional nurses of any information regarding the patient's physical and emotional condition.
- Interacts with the patients on the unit to promote the safety and security of all patients and staff and reports to the professional nurse any condition on the unit that jeopardizes safety and security,
- Maintains accurate and thorough documentation as required,
- Maintains confidentiality of clinical information,
- Maintains the rules and regulations of the unit and notifies professional nurses of situations that require immediate attention,
- Provides limit setting in a manner which is the least restrictive, respects the patient's rights and assures safety,
- Report patient complaints, problems, and any untoward signs, symptoms, or unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate Registered Nurse,
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations,
- Shows sound and mature judgment in maintaining the safety and security of the patients and staff,
- Transports patients to ancillary departments and emergency room,
- Understands information pertinent to assigned patients,
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and conservice,
- Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records,
- Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors,
- Listens and communicates effectively
- Supports teamwork by cooperative problem-solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc,
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
- Organizes work, sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate.
- Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with the department's objectives, policies and procedures.
