Position Highlights:

  • Performs physical assessments on patients. Provides diagnoses through the physical exam as
    well as the review of baseline histories and systems. Refers patients to a physician as needed.
  • Supports the physician and serves as his/her backup in the management of patients with
    acute illnesses. In the absence of the physician and in accordance with signed practice
    guidelines, the PA will diagnose and treat acute illnesses that are of an appropriate level of
    complexity. Orders and interprets laboratory work and other diagnostic studies. Develops
    and implements a plan of care to address the illness, which may include prescribing
    medications and/or other treatments. May refer patient to subspecialty clinicians.
  • Teaches and counsels individuals and groups with regard to specific health care needs.
    Serves as an educator in areas of specialization.
  • Provides telephone evaluation and advice to patients.
  • As designated by the physician, may monitor and manage chronic disease cases that are of
    moderate complexity.
  • May serve as the representative care provider for a patient with a stated preference or as
    appropriate to the practitioner's area of specialization.
  • Participates in department and organizational clinical care initiatives.
  • Maintains BLS certification.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of nationally accredited, Masters-level Physician Assistant program.
  • Possesses/eligible for national certification as a Physician Assistant.
  • Possesses/eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Possession and maintenance of or eligibility for DEA and Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on
    specialty.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience with strong preference for experience as a Physician Assistant within a
    primary care setting.

Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $110,000 to $166,500. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
