Job Description

Location Profile:

Located in North Hollywood, CA, Avibank Manufacturing, Inc., a PCC Company, a part of the Engineered Products Group, is among the world's leading manufacturers specializing in the design and production of sophisticated fasteners and multi-component fastening systems and devices, solving difficult engineering and critical performance problems.

Position Summary:

Stress Engineers conduct stress analyses on designs of production parts for experimental, prototype, or production aircraft, space vehicles, surface effect vehicles, missiles, and related components to evaluate ability to withstand stresses imposed during flight or ground operations. In this role there will also be duties associated with Reliability Engineering, dealing with the prediction, prevention, and management of high level of lifetime engineering uncertainty and risks of failure.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes ability of structural components to withstand stresses imposed by static, dynamic, or thermal loads, due to operational or test condition
  • Studies preliminary specifications and design requirements to determine strength and bending characteristics of parts, assemblies, and total airframe.
  • Consults with design personnel regarding results of analyses and need for additional analysis, testing, or design modifications.
  • Formulates mathematical model of stress problem or devises other methods of computer analysis or simulation to assist in stress analysis.
  • Uses classical hand calculation as well as FEA tools to determine the structural threshold of a part.
  • Generate comprehensive report for both internal and external customer.
  • Conduct statistical process analysis and capability studies.
  • Perform FMEA's and MTBF predictions on mechanical systems using industry standard tools.
  • Identifying and reporting on potential failures within a process.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend technical and complex instructions, technical correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write technical specifications, and complex procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited.

Required Experience:

  • Knowledge of Design software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Familiar with CAD modelling and authoring drawings (SolidWorks)
  • Experience with structural and/or vibration testing
  • Experience in MATHCAD and 3D analysis simulating software
  • Ability to guide design team to optimize designs
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • MRB processing
  • Experience in strain gaging and data analysis
  • Typically, 3 or more years of experience

Level of Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; minimum two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $78,000 to $110,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
