Economist (Remote) -Labor Market Research

Contract | Remote | 45-50/hr

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in data analysis, enjoys translating economic concepts for the public, and wants to work with one of the largest sets of job search and hiring data in the world.

What You'll Do



  • Research and write data-driven reports and blog posts on the U.S. labor market.
  • Work alongside economists and data scientists on global labor market research projects.
  • Build and analyze large datasets using R and cloud-based tools.
  • Summarize key monthly labor reports (e.g., payroll employment, JOLTS) for broad audiences.
  • Speak as a subject-matter expert in media interviews and public forums (optional depending on background).
  • Support presentations for internal and external stakeholders.


What We're Looking For



  • Master's degree in Economics or a related field (or an exceptional undergraduate record).
  • 5+ years of experience in economic research, labor market analysis, or applied economics.
  • Strong understanding of labor market theory, empirical methods, and statistical concepts.
  • Experience working with public labor market datasets (BLS, Census, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in R for data analysis and visualization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
