Description

The Physical Therapist III will be responsible to provide advanced skill and expertise therapy services to a wide spectrum of pediatric disabilities and conditions. Must be knowledgeable in evidence based and current practice standards for pediatric care, assume primary responsibilities for a specialty area or primary clinic and act as a mentor to other health care professionals. Will be able to appropriately model professional behavior in all interactions and will work collaboratively with leadership and program manager to provide updates for clinical and administrative operations of the Physical and Occupational Therapy Departments.

Qualifications

Minimum Work Experience
8 years of pediatric experience. Internal applicants must have successfully completed the Level III application. External applicants must demonstrate comparable experience. (Required)

Required Licenses and Certifications
Physical Therapist Must have DC licensure or licensure in treating jurisdiction. . Preferred advanced certification in a specialty area (Pediatric Certified Specialist, Orthopedic Certified specialist etc.) (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Clinical Skills and Expertise

  • Evaluate and treat patients incorporating advanced best practice and research driven techniques pursuant to practice acts.
  • Has ongoing evidence of recognized advanced competency in 3-4 clinical areas with recognized clinical expertise in 1-2 specialty areas.
  • Consistent use of advanced treatment techniques to achieve consistent progress and positive outcomes
  • Assumes primary clinic or specialty responsibilities including a significant new program development and education of therapy staff

Documentation

  • Comply with departmental policies and procedures for inpatient and outpatient documentation.
  • Ensure documentation of aides and students are reviewed and co-signed

Leadership

  • Acts as a mentor to staff to share clinical expertise and advance program development
  • Participates in 1-2 multidisciplinary team committees, clinics or rounds as a major contributor.
  • Presents a minimum of one case study addressing outcome and efficacy of treatment within department annually
  • Presents 1-2 in-service on evidence based practice or research to staff and other allied health professionals.
  • Assists in identifying staff education and clinical development needs and suggests viable improvement

Administrative

  • Complete all administrative assignments to include billing, Beartime and requested operations input on time.
  • Participate in data collection on research projects and PI initiatives.
  • Identify need for change in current policies and procedures to reflect update in care and best practice.

Professional Growth

  • Pursues or completes advanced degree or certification
  • Presents 1 lecture annually as past of a larger educational course
  • Participates and acts as a lead in one major department/hospital committee task force annually
  • Participates in Research, PI project or grant writing as a planner or principle investigator resulting in formal presentation, poster or publication in a recognized professional organization.
