Description

The Dietitian II plays a vital role in delivering medical nutrition therapy to patients within the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital (NPH) a dynamic, collaborative academic healthcare environment. This position involves conducting comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments, developing, and implementing personalized care plans, and documenting accurately within electronic health records. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, diagnosing malnutrition, performing Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE), managing therapeutic diets, providing nutrition education, and overseeing enteral nutrition therapies. Within the behavioral health units, the Dietitian II supports patients across the lifespan-from pediatrics to adults and the geriatric population-ensuring high-quality nutritional care tailored to individual needs. This position also includes some work on the adolescent eating disorder unit. Working in close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, medical and ancillary staff, and food service personnel, the Dietitian II contributes to a cohesive care approach. In addition, this role actively participates in departmental initiatives, quality improvement projects, interdisciplinary rounds, and regular team meetings to support ongoing excellence in patient care.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field with 2+ years of experienceor Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience
  • Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain specialty certifications as needed
  • Strong knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy and evidence-based interventions, including EN and TPN management
  • Proficient in nutritional assessments, NFPE, lab interpretation, and malnutrition diagnosis
  • Clear communicator with patients and care teams; applies CICARE to support collaboration
  • Provides age-appropriate nutrition education
  • Uses sound clinical judgment to adjust interventions based on patient needs
  • Works effectively with interdisciplinary teams
  • Manages time well and meets required performance benchmarks
  • Culturally competent, with awareness of diverse nutrition practices and social determinants of health
  • Skilled in EHR and nutrition software systems
  • Familiarity with food service systems, menu planning, and food safety
