The Henry Ford Medical Group's Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is seeking a physician to join our team as a Senior Staff Hospice Physician. This is a unique opportunity to serve a diverse patient population while contributing to a well-established, mission-driven program in Southeast Michigan.

Position Highlights

  • Join a non-profit, hospital-based hospice with over 30 years of dedicated service to the Southeast Michigan community.
  • Collaborate with a seasoned interdisciplinary team committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Serve as faculty for our ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program (2 fellows/year).
  • Practice at a respected academic institution affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine.
  • Care for a diverse patient population across a variety of settings.
  • Report directly to the Division Head of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Depending on interests and skills, there may be opportunities to provide coverage for inpatient hospice patients and perform palliative care consultations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the medical oversight of hospice patient care services.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of hospice program goals.
  • Deliver educational seminars and outreach to health system and community clinicians to enhance awareness and access to hospice services.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians and the interdisciplinary team to manage terminal illnesses, related conditions, and symptom distress.
  • Conduct home visits when clinically appropriate and as requested by the care team.
  • Apply expertise in prognostication and hospice regulations to assess eligibility, related diagnoses, and appropriate levels of care.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners.
  • Engage in scholarly activities including education, quality improvement, and/or research.

  • Board certification in a primary specialty.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Completion of a Palliative Medicine Fellowship or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated qualities of being self-directed, flexible, team-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
  • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and exceptional patient service.
