BWH Primary Care at MMHC is a growing 500 patient primary care practice at 75 Fenwood Road in the Longwood Area. We are embedded within Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC), an out-patient mental health center that is part of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. We work closely with our mental health colleagues to provide primary care and wellness services to our patient population, most of whom are living with chronic mental illness. We look forward to adding a medical assistant to the care we offer our patients.
Summary This role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff and administrative staff to facilitate efficient care. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. -Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers. -Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records. -Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, scheduling appointments and completing insurance forms. Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. -Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked. -Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
