The Area HR Generalist, in conjunction with the HR Manager assists in delivering HR functional support to Kankakee as an employee advocate, administrative expert and business driver. The Area HR Generalist will work within the full scope of generalist activity: recruitment, employee relations, performance management, regulatory and legal compliance, policy administration and employee training and development in a collaborative, team-based environment to help the Kankakee plant achieve their Operational Excellence goals. In addition, the Area HR Generalist will provide primarily virtual administrative and HR support to the Moline, IL plant on an as-needed basis, with some on-site support, not to exceed 25%. Additional Information 1st Shift Monday - Friday Travel Required: 25% This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans. Talent Acquisition / Workforce Planning
- Performs employee recruiting and hiring activities for all site positions; coordinate and administer job postings, bidding processes, internal movement and outside hiring of employees for all shifts.
- Handles administrative aspects of recruiting (job posting system maintenance, applicant scheduling, pre-hire activities including medical/chemical screenings)
- Conducts New hire orientation including overview of employee benefit programs.
People Development / Learning & Development
- Administers the Operator Certification and Onboarding processes, as well as maintains all other employee training records/files.
- Assists with organizational review process
- Conducts policy review and compliance training as necessary
- Supports uploading classroom training into the LMS
- Support HR Talent processes such as onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, talent review and succession planning, and learning and development
Compensation and Benefits
- Performs and/or participates in annual wage survey and give recommendations based on the results to the Human Resource Manager.
- Utilizes Company benefits and compensation policies and procedures such as salary policy, wage matrix and Celebrate program
- Conducts open enrollment sessions to review benefit updates
- Assists with all annual wage increase actions and merit tool administration for site.
- Maintain progression rates (if applicable) and general increases and maintain and update job descriptions when required.
HR Functional Excellence/ Compliance
- Provides data for the Site Affirmative Action Plan; and conducts quarterly review for compliance (adverse impact analysis).
- Ensures all administrative HR functions completed as required, including processing all necessary employee and departmental paperwork is appropriately completed and filed where necessary
- Audits employee rosters and other reports to ensure data integrity of HR and Payroll systems
- Support Managers and Supervisors in the administration of the corrective action programs to control absenteeism and other disciplinary issues.
- HRIS data management and maintenance of personnel files and data (e.g., disability, FMLA, timekeeping), in conjunction with HRSS. Creates cases as needed to update records in the HR Cloud, Kronos, Careers, etc.
Employee Engagement/ Positive Employee Relations/Culture of Belonging
- Provides input and information to assist plant management in understanding current issues and cultural considerations facing our employee population.
- Acts as employee advocate through interpretation and communication of policies and procedures and facilitation of employee committees.
- Responds to employee inquiries
- Assists with the investigation of all complaints and conducts all necessary follow up as appropriate.
- Assistance and participation with all employee engagement activities, including administration of annual engagement survey.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
- Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or at least four (4) years of work experience in human resources
- Must have at least two (2) years of work experience in Human Resources
Preferred Qualifications
- Have a bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Organizational/Industrial Psychology, or Business Management
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Have experience in multi-shift operation
- Have experience in a union environment
