Job Description:

Microchip Technology is seeking a proactive and skilled Foundry Engineer to serve as a key technology interface between Microchip's internal divisions and external foundry partners. In this role, you will support the development and optimization of semiconductor technologies by managing technical communications, documentation, and process assessments. Your expertise will ensure that Microchip's foundry technology needs are met with precision, efficiency, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technology liaison between Microchip and multiple external foundries, facilitating effective communication and collaboration for ongoing and new technology developments.
  • Interface with various internal divisions to understand and address their specific foundry technology requirements, ensuring alignment with business and technical objectives.
  • Create, maintain, and update all critical documentation-including Design Rule Check (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS), and Mask Derivation documents-to support new process developments and technology transfers.
  • Assess design and layout violations, compile detailed reports, and communicate findings to relevant divisions for resolution and process improvement.
  • Evaluate new process modules introduced by foundries, analyzing their impact and effectiveness in meeting management's strategic goals.
  • Obtain and interpret parametric results from foundry processes, ensuring data accuracy and relevance for device characterization and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize process flows, with a focus on embedded Flash and advanced semiconductor technologies.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of device physics, semiconductor measurement, and statistical analysis to support technology development and troubleshooting.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive project objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 0-3 years of professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of device physics, including EPROM, EEPROM, and Flash EEPROM.
  • Proven experience with bench measurement setups and extraction of semiconductor device parameters.
  • Excellent understanding of CMOS process flows and embedded Flash technologies.
  • Familiarity with advanced semiconductor processing, statistical analysis, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience in technical documentation creation and maintenance (DRC, LVS, Mask Derivation).
  • Process development experience for advance semiconductor technologies preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional and external partner environments.
  • Effective communication skills for technical reporting and teamwork.
