Position Summary
The University of New Mexico School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is recruiting a board certified or board eligible, Open Rank, Open Track, general neurosurgeon with a broad range of capabilities. More focused experience in treating intrinsic tumors (gliomas), spine disorders, or brain trauma and comfort managing basic pediatric conditions are welcome. An interest in leading and growing the identified practice in Neurosurgery is desirable. Join 9 established neurosurgeons and neurocritical care doctors practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents with the University of New Mexico.
The University of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral Neurosurgical center in the State of 2.3 million people. There is a significant need and opportunity to assume and expand an established general neurosurgical practice. Overall, the department has a comprehensive practice encompassing the full range of neurological disorders in both adult and pediatric patients. This practice is supported by an experienced group of 20 advanced practice provides and an expanding ACGME-approved residency. Participation in coverage of brain and spine trauma for UNM Hospital, the only Level 1 trauma center in the state, is expected.

Minimum Qualifications
- MD, DO, or
equivalent degree
- Completion, by
start date, of a Residency in Neurological Surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or its international equivalent - Completion of
or eligibility by start date to apply for certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery or its international equivalent
