As a successful Program Specialist, you will play an active role in:

  • Overseeing and/or coordinating the CDC Diabetes and MCC ECHO programs, which include communicating with various stakeholders, submitting CME accreditation requests, requesting and collaborating with interpretation as needed, and providing iECHO support to participants and staff.
  • Coordinating meetings with grant sub-awardees for the development of the ECHO program curriculum, quality improvement, and training related to the ECHO programs.
  • Supporting the MCC Diabetes ECHO program by tracking attendance during the ECHO session, sending e-mail communications before or after each session, working closely with the Program Manager for gathering data analysis of the program, and uploading referencing documents into the iECHO platform.
  • Planning and implementing new programs with the Program Manager and Medical Director.
  • Troubleshooting problems and finding solutions for participants who struggle with logging into iECHO, finding resources, or have CME-related challenges to ensure a successful ECHO session.
  • Submitting and coordinating CME documentation needed for the sessions.
  • Overseeing the coordination and collection of monthly, quarterly, and final reports for each program.
  • Coordinating with case presenters promptly by creating a list of sites and potential speakers, creating a directory, and calling clinicians as needed for cases.

  • Assembling compiled data into marketing materials to demonstrate the growth of diabetes ECHO programs.
  • Reviewing and creating Spanish language materials as needed.

  • Providing coordination coverage for other Program Specialists on an emergency basis.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the Diabetes/MCC ECHO program sessions. Communicating regularly with key stakeholders to coordinate program needs.
  • Engaging with spokes as needed for communication needs on behalf of Project ECHO or hub teams of DSMES, SDOH, and CHWI programs.
  • Overseeing coordination by attending each of the weekly ECHO programs for DSMES, SDOH, and Endocrinology, and tracking the attendance for each of the priority counties in New Mexico.
  • Coordinating travel logistics for related programs.

Project ECHO is committed to democratizing implementation of best practices in healthcare, education, and other areas where first-mile professionals need support. We do this by training universities, nonprofits, and dedicated individuals on facilitation skills and how to set up robust virtual communities of practice to be able to scale their own expertise and missions to the benefit of their local communities. Over the past 20 years, Project ECHO and our partners have trained more than 1,000 partners who make up our global network of Universities, ministries of health, and NGOs around the world. Examples of programs we and others run include infectious disease control (Hepatitis C, HIV), mental health and addiction treatment, literacy, math, climate mitigation, and many more.

Project ECHO is funded in part by philanthropic grants and gifts from organizations such as the GE Foundation, the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, the Merck Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the US Government. Additionally, for programming benefiting New Mexico, we receive support from the NM Legislature, the New Mexico Human Services Department, and the New Mexico Department of Health.

Project ECHO prides itself on being a values-based organization and an inclusive place to work. Our seven values include: Service to the Underserved, Democratization of Knowledge, Mutual Trust and Respect, Teamwork, Excellence and Accountability, Innovation and Learning, and Joy of Work. We strive to find individuals who can embrace and exemplify these values. In addition, Project ECHO was named one of Albuquerque's Top Three Best Places to Work in 2023. This award recognizes organizations of all sizes with exceptional climates, team atmospheres, benefits, and employee engagement. For more information and a brief overview of the benefits available, please visit Project ECHO Newsroom.
